The cast of Glee will debut original music for the very first time ever on their new album, Glee: The Music, Volume 5. Today, those two songs are available to listen to (and judge).
Lea Michele‘s soaring voice drives the piano-drenched ballad “Get It Right.” “What can you do when your good isn’t good enough and all that you touch tumbles down/’Cause my best intentions keep making a mess of things/I just want to fix it somehow/But how many times will it take, oh, how many times will it take for me to get it right,” she sings on the chorus. The song is melodrama, just like Michele’s character Rachel Berry.
The ensemble cut, “Loser Like Me,” is a zippier offering, penned by pop mastermind Max Martin. The song is, well, very Max Martin-y. In other words, it’s upbeat and catchy as all hell. The track encompasses everything Glee is about: being “losers” but accepting it and making it cool. The hardships and bullying they suffer? It’s only temporary. In fact, they’re betting on getting the last laugh with their future success. “I’m not thinking ’bout you haters/’Cause, hey, I could be a superstar/I’ll see you when you wash my car.”
