Crafted by pop staples Max Martin and Dr. Luke, the team behind hits for other pop darlings like Ke$ha and Katy Perry, the track is, well, very Max Martin and Dr. Luke-y. You’d probably be able to guess who was behind the song even if it wasn’t public knowledge. But the good news is the team clearly wanted to offer Britney something that would stand out at least a smidgen more from the rest of their work. Enter the track’s throbbing bassline, gritty break-down switch, and angelic chorus.
Lyrically, Britney isn’t breaking new ground in the least. It’s all about wanting to take flirtation in the club to a sexier place a.k.a. the classic dance-pop soup. But it works well together. Take a super lame pick up line (“if I said I want your body, would you hold it against me?”), add the pulsating beat, and sprinkle in Britney’s charm (and big name) and you have a recipe for a dancefloor-scorcher and a definite future chart-topper.
